In Disney’s new movie Lightyear, a sudden appearance of two females kissing each other has caused lots of controversy. Uzo Aduba, an actress that played as a female character, kissed another female in the movie. 13 different Muslim nations have laws saying that same-sex relationships were not allowed because the religion of Islam believes same-sex relationships are sinful.
Chris Evans, the actor of Captain America, said that this was frustrating at the “Lightyear” premiere in London. “It feels good to be a part of something that is making social progress, but it’s with this ribbon of bittersweet frustration that at the same time, there are still places that have not caught up,” said Evans.
Disney allowed the studios around the world to stop playing the movie because of their religious beliefs. Not long-ago, Disney also received lots of protest because of CEO Bob Chapek’s prolonged response to the people in the public.
However, Muslim countries are not the only group who are against the film’s portrayal of a same-sex couple. The governor of Florida Paul DeSantis announced the “Don’t Say Gay” bill which states that there shall be no sexual related teaching throughout kindergarten, first, second, and third grade.
