Have you ever heard of Magnus White? Well, if you had, I have some heart breaking news. Recently Magnus White, one of America’s top cyclists, passed away at the age of 17 after being hit by a car while training for the Junior Men’s Mountain Bike Cross-Country World Championships.
Magnus was riding on the shoulder of Highway 119, known as the Diagonal, in Boulder on Saturday afternoon when he was hit by a 23-year-old woman driving a Toyota Matrix. When the ambulance was called it was too late, as he was pronounced dead, although the driver was uninjured. According to the state patrol the drivers did not have drugs or alcohol.
His parents were truly devastated at this moment. They said that he made people and others around him feel welcome and filled them with laughter. His parents stated,”Magnus was dedicated to his family and friends and loved to surround them with laughter. He had an amazing smile that always lit up the room, bringing joy to those around him.” He would still be in the hearts of many. Magnus was truly happy doing cycling; it was his hobby and passion. I am glad he was able to do so much in such little time. His legend will never pass and he will always be in the hearts of many.
