This year’s Women’s World Cup is being held in Australia and New Zealand. It’s the first time there has been a tournament played in the Southern Hemisphere of the globe and hosted by two nations.
There will be a total record of 32 teams competing in the tournament. That’s the most teams that have ever competed in the World Cup all together at once! The 32 teams will be out there fighting to win the tournament’s trophy. The opening games start at 8 a.m. on July 20th and end on August 20th.
The 32 teams competing in the tournament will be divided into 8 groups (Group A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H). The USA is the most likely to win because they won the last two World Cups.
The whole tournament will be held in 10 different stadiums across 9 cities: 6 stadiums in Australia across Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney along with 4 stadiums in Auckland, Dunedin, Hamilton, and Wellington in New Zealand. 64 matches will be held in the stadiums. The final matches will be played in Australia.
The USA is on the top of the rankings and we will see who wins this tournament this year.
