The Women’s World Cup in 2023, hosted by Australia and New Zealand

By: Matt Choi

The Women’s World Cup this year is hosted by Australia and New Zealand. There are 9 stadiums in total, with 5 in Australia and 4 in New Zealand. The tournament starts on July 20 and finishes on August 20. This year is the largest World Cup because there are more countries participating in the Women’s World Cup than before. There were 24 countries in the last tournament but now there are 32 countries.

England is the only one in the UK that has qualified in this world cup. England is in group D which is with Haiti, Danmark, and China. They will first play against Haiti, second against Danmark, and last against China.

My favorite country that I support is South Korea because it is the country where I am from and I watched almost every World Cup video of South Korea even if they lost. South Korea is in Group H with Germany, Morocco, and Columbia. All of these countries are strong and able to be winners in this world cup so South Korea should focus and do their best! I heard that South Korea lost to Columbia 0-2 but the world cup isn’t finished yet and I hope the players not only do their best but also to make good memories.
