Scooter Wins World’s Ugliest Dog Contest

By: Lin Jiayi

The World’s Ugliest Dog Contest is an annual event held in Petaluma, California which started in the 1970s as a way to raise awareness for animal adoption and has since become a beloved tradition for dog lovers everywhere.

Each year, dogs from all over the world compete for the title of ‘World’s Ugliest Dog.’ Judges evaluate the dogs based on their unique features, such as wrinkles, hairlessness, and droopy eyes. Despite the name of the contest, the dogs are celebrated for their individuality and charm.

Scooter, a 7-year-old Chinese Crested dog, is not your typical good-looking dog. In fact, some might say he’s downright ugly, but that’s what makes him so special. His unique appearance is a result of his mixed breed heritage, with a face that looks like a mash of several different dogs. His eyes are wide-set and bulging, his nose is crooked, and his tongue hangs out of his mouth in a perpetually goofy grin.

Despite his unconventional looks, Scooter is undeniably charming. His scruffy fur is soft to the touch, and his tail never stops wagging. Even his owner said, “he is friendly with almost everyone.” He may not be a show dog, but he has a personality that shines through his appearance. Scooter is proof that beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

Scooter’s photo went viral on social media, with people all over the world falling in love with his unique appearance and lovable demeanour. He became an internet sensation overnight, with thousands of fans.

His victory in the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest is a testament to the fact that true beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, even in the form of an ‘ugly’ dog like Scooter.
