Lewis Capaldi Performs at Glastonbury Festival

By: Yiran Liu

Music artist Lewis Capaldi is a pop singer who performed at the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom on June 24. He has Tourette syndrome, which made it hard for him to sing near the end of his set at the festival. Because of his symptoms, the crowd supported him and sang “Someone You Loved” with him.

Capaldi has talked about how Tourette syndrome has affected his performance. Tourette syndrome is a condition that causes people to experience sudden and unpredictable movements called tics. The syndrome can also give you depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. During his concert, Capaldi said that he will take a break from performing shortly. “You might not see me for the rest of the year. But when I do come back and I do see you, I hope you’re up for watching,” he told the crowd.

On June 27, Capaldi said on social media that he would be canceling the rest of

his concert tour dates. He said that he was going to take care of his mental and physical health first. Capaldi also noted that he is still learning to manage the impact of his Tourette syndrome. He sincerely apologizes to the fans who waited so long to see his concerts. Fans are awaiting his return, better than before.
