Ariarne Titmus is an Australian Olympic Swimmer. She has won 4 medals in the Olympics: 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 1 bronze. She hints at quitting the sport after the conclusion of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Titmus was born on September 7, 2000, in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. She began swimming at a young age and in 2015, she and her family moved to Queensland in order for Titmus to pursue better swimming opportunities. She came from an athletic family, with her mother, Robyn, having competed in athletics sprinting events at a national level in Australia. At the age of 15, Titmus joined the Australian Dolphins Swim Team.

Titmus is the Australian record holder in the women’s 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle and also one of the world’s greatest female middle-distance swimmers. At the 2022 Australian Swimming Championships in May, Titmus set a new world record in the long course 400-meter freestyle with a time of 3:56.40, breaking the former record of 3:56.46 set by Katie Ledecky in 2016. She has a former Olympic record of 3:56.40 for 400 meters freestyle.

When it was hinted that Titmus was going to quit her career after the Paris Olympics, she said that she might continue if she succeeds because it motivates her to continue, but it becomes harder to keep training at the same level when you’ve essentially achieved everything you wanted to achieve.

Titmus does her best in swimming but may soon retire. Even when stepping back, she still enjoys the sport of swimming. She continues to stay motivated even when her Olympic career may end.
