The tiny but mighty Steph Curry was just crowned NBA finals MVP for the first time. Throughout the year, Curry demonstrated excellence on the court, especially in the Finals. During Curry’s career he’s changed from the rookie of the team to the Golden State Warriors’ star player.
The NBA hasn’t seen anything like Curry’s dominance from a player with such a small height. If you were to compare curry to other NBA superstars, he’s most likely to be the smallest.
“You’ve never seen a guy his size dominate the league like this and just to put the weight of everything on his shoulders throughout a Finals series,” said Golden State forward Andre Iguodala. Curry’s small size also affects his shooting when he is easily blocked. “But a guy his height who is vertically challenged, they would say, just – you saw it; we all saw it. It was just incredible,” said Iguodala.
Curry is creative and experimental on the court, but he’s also self-aware. Everyone recognizes his 30 footers, but he is not getting enough recognition for his introversion Even without the ball, Curry is constantly moving to help his teammates get open.
Iguodala told reporters that they don’t appreciate Curry enough. “We’re getting away from appreciating,” he said. “I call them gods – that very unique talent, generational talent. When he’s gone were really going to miss him forget how much an impact not just on the warriors or the NBA but the entire globe. You know like he made the world move.”
Curry was regular season MVP two times but continued to let other players outdo him in the Finals. Iguodala was Finals MVP in 2015, and Kevin Durant took the title in 2017 and 2018. To be an amazing basketball player you don’t need to have the titles. It is more about doing whatever you can to help your team be better. The team titles are what count most. The morning after Curry won the NBA finals MVP award he went to a press conference. He was tired from partying after they won the championship. He wore a shirt that said NBA champions and was still soaked in champagne. The first question was about the MVP award. This made Curry mad and he slammed his fist on the table. “Why would you start with that question?” Curry exclaimed. “We’ve got four championships.,”
