Steph Curry’s New Title

By: Natalie Wu

Wardell Stephen Curry II, more commonly known as Steph Curry, has officially won the NBA Finals MVP Award. Although it took him four championship wins, this changes everything as he’s short compared to the average NBA player height. Standing at 6-foot-2, he is around 5-inches shorter than the average player. It’s quite funny; he seems to have shrunk as he’s getting older. He signed up to be 6-foot-3 previous years.

Steph Curry is a walking talent. The NBA has never seen someone at his height/size play in such a dominating way. Golden State forward Andre Iguodala told reporters, “you’ve never seen a guy his size dominate the league like this and just to put the weight of everything on his shoulders throughout a Finals series.” Curry is very competitive but shows good sportsmanship throughout his career. Despite the height difference, he finds a way to awe his fans and the entire stadium. “But a guy his height who is vertically challenged, they would say, just — you saw it; we all saw it. It was just incredible.” Curry himself has changed the whole game. He’s set countless three-pointer records and more. Aiming to surpass LeBron James, he continues.

Of course, during interviews, some questions can get on players nerves. It can become annoying, especially when they aren’t in the mood for such. When Curry gets asked a question, he finds slightly annoying; he tries to play it off a little in a joking manner. The first question that he gets asked is about how he felt about winning the final MVP. Instead of overreacting, he slams his hands gently on the table and says, “forget that question! Why you start with that question?” He showed that he was annoyed, but he was being playful about it. Many NBA stars storm off after getting annoyed, but his patience is also key to being a great leader. He’s definitely thinking about winning a fifth time.
