Interview with Little League Baseball Team Player Ella Bruning

By: Olivia Gao

What was it like to be the only girl on your sports team? Maybe Ella Bruning can tell you!

Ella had a lot of potential sports, and in particular, baseball.

She won the Little League World Series baseball game when she was 10. She was a catcher and pitcher and was the 20th female player for Little Leagues team! Something she hoped to do is to be a positive example for many young girls.

Ella also plays other sports like softball, basketball, and volleyball. Ella lived in Texas and her favorite infielder is Jose Altuve. She played for the 10-year-old All Stars team two years ago and she was the only girl in the all-boys team. That’s how the nickname Ella and the Fellas was born. And in one game she won 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run in Texas’s win against Washington.

“On-the-field, they don’t treat me any differently,” Ella said. “Off-the-field, it’s a little different because I can’t stay with them in a room. I have to stay in my own room.”
