Since the beginning of the modern era, teens have been known for their weird and slightly concerning trends. They have never failed to surprise the latest generation, and their new trend is no exception. When Minions: The Rise of Gru was released was July 1st, teens jumped at the chance to make the #gentleminion trend. Boys are going with their friends to theaters, dressed in formal attire, and posting it online.
Teenage boys have orchestrated days where they go to theaters in their best 8th-grade graduation garb, watch the movie, and post it online. They wear suits, dress shirts, and sometimes even sunglasses.
The #gentleminions trend Shas gained 65.4 million views from the hashtag on TikTok alone. In addition, the movie earned approximately 164 million dollars domestically in its first week. The trend has grown tremendously, with one video reaching nearly 170,000 likes and over a million views.
But as it turns out, this entire thing wasn’t planned. Joshua Law, an 18-year-old student, said, “After we finished the movie, we went out, and we were going down the escalator, and then we saw this bunch going up the escalator, and we sort of met halfway.”
The teens of this era genuinely have exciting thoughts to come up with these trends.
