The English female soccer team of the UEFA Soccer Euros of 2022 is blazing through the competition. They have won every match that they’ve played and haven’t let opponents score a single goal. In their most recent game against Northern Ireland, they won 5-0. The English Lionesses will be moving up into the quarter finals after this win. The Northern Ireland team has not won a single match throughout the entire 2022 Euros, which was far below the team’s expectations. They lost their final game in a 0-2 defeat against Austria.

Fran Kirby from the Chelsea soccer team broke the 0-0 score at the 40-minute mark with a ball in the top corner of the goal. Right before the half-time break, top scorer of the tournament Beth Mead added her fifth goal with another low shot to end the first half. Alessia Russo, a substitute playing for England, scored two goals only five minutes after the half-time. To end the game, Kelsie Burrows accidentally scored an own goal (a goal scored by a player into their own net) by deflecting a shot by Mead into the goal. The Northern Irelanders ended up at the bottom of the tournament and they are now the first team to be eliminated in the UEFA Soccer Euros of 2022.
