Turning food waste into Edible Cement

By: Jayden Lu

Recently scientists found a way to turn food waste into edible cement in their lab. They did it because the less food waste we waste the smaller the landfills will get.

They used things like a banana peel, onions, orange peel, tea leaves, coffee grounds, and pumpkin to make the cement. Researchers have found that most of these foods produce a material nearly four times stronger than concrete.

Everyday people throw away food like it is trash. Another way to reuse food or turn it into something is composting it.

Researchers in Japan say food waste can be turned back into food. All you have to do is break it up and boil it!

If you save the food then you can then also help reduce global warming, landfills will get smaller, and then be able to keep your food waste and turn it into food. Those things will help the world be a cleaner, better, reusable, environment.
