A small robot welcomes a guest coming to the Tokyo Olympics. The robot provides event information in the stands, as well as passing out concessions and walking people to their seats. There are two of these helpful robots.
Toyota Motor Corp. designed mascot robots Miraitowa and Someity to help welcome visitors to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. They can wave, shake hands, and react when someone is near them. They also have a variety of facial expressions. Miraitowa is blue, and helps with the Olympics, and Someity is pink, and helps with the Paralympics. Both robots were unveiled at the Tokyo Stadium in Chofu City. The event brought together more than 400 children living in the neighbourhood. Kids were able to interact and shake hands with the robots.
There is also another robot that helps with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It is called a Field Support Robot. The black-and-white high-tech robot made its first appearance in the last week of June. The Field Support Robot can collect rugby balls, drive on its own, and follow an “optimal path” when it’s chasing after objects thrown by athletes. “This will help reduce both the amount of time needed to retrieve items and the amount of human support required at events,” the International Olympic Committee explained.
These robots show the practical use of machines and high-tech during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. These robots can make a welcoming and memorable experience.
