Once-In-A-Lifetime-Chance To See Comet NEOWISE

By Vincent Liu

Recently, a comet called Comet Neowise was found in space. The comet is big and is visible with just the naked eye. If you are going to try to see it though, binoculars would help a lot. The comet was first spotted on March 27 by NASA’s Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE), which it is named after. This comet is one-of-a-kind and has two tails instead of one: one of rocky dust, and one of gas. This giant ball of frozen gas, dust, and rock is actually VERY rare. If the comet does not completely vaporize, it will still appear again in about 6,000 years.  The comet is more visible in dark areas with little lights. NEOWISE was closest to earth on July 22, and it is already starting to fade from sight. If you want to see it, you’d better hurry.
