My family and I
are playing poker.
84 fake dollars each with no jokers.
Dad deals out the cards, with a grin so sly.
My hand
is utter trash.
I fold quickly, since otherwise,
my money will crash.
The next handout is not that bad.
Chilling out in front with King and Ace.
When the cards were revealed, I raise the pot, very glad.
The lighting is a bright yellow,
And many faces are mellow.
Grins appear whenever a new card is revealed.
When all five cards are out on the deck,
No one raises, so,
Check check.
I lay down my cards, about to crow.
Since I’m leading the pack with a straight flush.
My happiness is short-lived, when
Dad reveals his royal flush.
Money is redistributed accordingly,
Dad takes first,
My sister, Amy, second,
Mom, third,
And me, the worst.
With four sad fake dollars left.
