Top Three Strongest Dog Species

By: Katherine Huang

Imagine a dog A LOT bigger than you. That could be pretty terrifying, especially if the dog wants to play with you. In this article I’ll be talking about three of the most aggressive and strongest dog species.

We first have the sarplaniniac shepherd. Sarplaniniac shepherds are one of the oldest native species. While they are known to be family-loving dogs, they are not particularly playful and are much happier when they have work to do. Combined with their big size, these dogs can easily herd a flock of sheep or stubborn pigs. These dogs form very strong connections with their owners, making them VERY suspicious of strangers and other dogs. Their first instinct when sensing possible danger is to serve as a barrier to protect their owner from the “possible” threat. Sarplaniniac shepherds are, on average, 60cm wide and about two feet tall.

These dogs also tend to have health issues. Some of the major health concerns with this species are hip and elbow dysplasia, or an abnormal growth or development of the tissues in these areas. More minor health issues tend to be obesity and patellar luxation. Patellar luxation is a kneecap that moves out of its normal location. These dogs are also illegal to keep in Denmark.

Secondly, another strong and aggressive breed is the Turkish Kangal. It is banned in Ukraine, Belarus, and Denmark because its bite has a force of 743 pound-force per square inch. These dogs aren’t even afraid to fight tigers! They can grow up to be 1 meter wide and 3.3 feet tall. With long legs, these dogs can run up to 50km per hour. They can also easily jump up to 2 meters or 6.5 feet. If these dogs decide to run, it’s impossible to keep hold on the leash.

Last but not least, we have the Belgian Malinois. These dogs can skillfully jump off roofs and walk on wires while remaining unharmed. These dogs are favorites for many special forces, including the U.S navy. These dogs can jump up to 7.5 meters or 25ft high! You need a special permit to own a Belgian malinois in Ukraine, Romania, Malaysia, and Bermuda.

In conclusion, I talked about Belgian malinois, Turkish kangal, and sarplaniniac shepherd. What do you think about keeping strong dogs as pets? I believe it is okay to own them if you care well for them and don’t neglect them. What do YOU think?
