When it’s good to lie and when it’s not

By: Connie Cao

The tongue is crisp, the eyes on fire

As you spit lies so dire

You tell me it’s fine

But I know it’s not alright

When is it good to lie

When is the consequences not worth it

If I had been honest all my life

I told my friends they looked all right

See them smile

All worthwhile

Rather than telling the truth

I think their outfit looks weird

Or their hair is strange

But if I told the truth

They would fume

When is it good to lie

When is it not

He told me he loved me

And I loved him very much too

But later, I’d be crying into my pillow

Because he found someone better

I would curse the stupid lie

I’ll tell myself to never lie in my life

The truth may hurt for a while, but a lie hurts forever

If my friends asked me if they looked alright

I know I’ll be honest

This time
