The wind howled menacingly, blowing with all its might. Snowflakes plummeted from the sky in a twisting torrent. The trees swayed to and fro, covered with ice and snow.
“This is so stupid! Why did I have to get fired from the bakery? My manager sucks. He is dumber than a headless chicken! Why do I have to be in a blasting blizzard? Why did I have to lose my wallet today? ” Bob pouted as he wrapped his coat around himself.
He stumbled amidst the snow and yanked the car door open, slamming it behind him. He revved up the engine with a loud VROOM, but the car didn’t budget. He tried again but to no avail.
“Why is my car stuck in the snow? Why? Why, Why, Why?” he whined. Bob ran out of the car door like a maniac, swinging his shovel in the air. He forcefully hurled shovels of snow away from his car, channeling his resentment into each aggressive throw. The bitter cold, wind numbed his hands, but Bob did not notice the pain as his anger raged on.
Bob zoomed down the snow-covered street, careless of his speed. A big fat tear rolled from his red eyes down his cheek, landing on his shoulder. Why? Why did I have to get fired, Bob thought. Keeping his left hand on the steering wheel, he curled up his right fist in anger and punched the control pad of the car.
Suddenly, Bob felt his car drifting in the snow. He looked up from his punching and saw another car in front of him. Desperately, he jerked the steering wheel and slammed the brakes, but his car continued to drift. Bob shut his eyes tight, bracing for the impact.
BOOM! Bob jolted upward as the car slammed into an expensive Lamborghini. Then Bob and the Lamborghini pulled over out of the road.
Bob’s face was red with anger as he got out of the car. He hated the whole world. The guy in the other Lamborghini got out of the car, with a worried look on his face.
“Hi, I’m Joe. Are you okay? Do you have any injuries?” the person in the Lamborghini said.
Bob summoned all his strength and self-control not to insult Joe, inhaled a huge shaky breath, and said, “Yes, I‘m OK.”
Bob and Joe then talked about the damage and insurance. Bob felt like the volcano inside him was boiling with anger, reaching the verge of eruption.
Then Joe muttered under his breath, “This person had to dent my beautiful Lamborghini. He’s gonna have to pay some big bucks to me.”
Then Bob burst. “You stupid rich person. All you care about is your expensive car and money, you have never known what it’s like to live from paycheck to paycheck or to suffer from true hunger. All you know is eating 100-course meals, living in a mansion, and driving expensive cars. And now you’re probably going to sue me because I dented your Lamborghini!”
Bob stormed off to his damaged car, which had a whole side riddled with dents and gashes. Bob sped off to his apartment. After reaching his apartment room, he screeched as loud as he could, then ripped a piece of paper into tiny shreds.
Knock, Knock. Bob turned around and went to open the door. “Great, now my neighbor is going to complain about how loud I am and how I need to shut up.”
Bob yanked the door open to see his neighbor waiting. Before Bob could even open his mouth to hurl more insults at his neighbor, his neighbor said, “I know you are probably feeling angry. So I just wanted to give you some cookies I baked.”
Bob took a step back in surprise and stammered, “T-t-hank Y-you,” and lightly closed the door.
Bob took the tray of cookies and set it on the table. The sweet, aroma permeated through the air, and Bob took a deep whiff of the calming smell. Munching on the cookie, he felt the chocolate chip piece melt on the tip of his tongue, tasting the savory sweetness. The dough was slightly chewy, the buttery goodness overwhelming Bob’s tastebuds.
The cookie helped Bob to calm down and realize that he had let his anger control him. There was no point in getting angry from being fired at the bakery: he had never even enjoyed his job at the bakery. He had to pay the price for getting angry, and now he had to pay for the damage done to his own car and the Lamborghini. Then Bob thought of the others that had suffered from the fit of anger. Bob’s boss had endured his angry tyrant at the bakery shop, and the Lamborghini owner had listened to insults hurled at Bob. Now Bob was determined to apologize to Joe the Lamborghini owner as well as his boss.
