The beloved animated movie, Moana, will be changed into a live action film. But who will play the main character, Moana? Actress Catherine Laga’aia has been cast to be Moana.

But who is Catherine Laga’aia? Catherine is 17 years old and from Sydney, Australia. She states she is really excited and happy that she gets the part of Moana. She mainly wanted to play the Moana role, because they share the Polynesian heritage.

“My grandfather comes from Fa’ala, Palauli, in Savai’i,” she said. “And my grandmother is from Leulumoega Tuai on the main island of ‘Upolu in Samoa. I’m honored to have an opportunity to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island people, and to represent young girls who look like me”

The film will take place in Motuini. Catherine Laga’aia will be voyaging there alongside Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) who voiced the demigod Maui in the 2016 animated movie. He will also be playing Maui in the live action film.

Many fans are excited for this live action film, which is due to be released in 2026.
Fans are excited to watch this, because Disney stated this film will bring the story of a young girl eager to pave her path in a whole new way.

Moana 2 will be released this November. Will it be as exciting and great as Disney claims it will be?
