By: Yuxi Nan

22-year-old Caitlin Clark, a point guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes, has made history in Women’s College Basketball, breaking numerous and impressive records in Women’s Basketball. She has brought more attention to this sport with her unique technique and skills.

During the 2022-23 season, Caitlin Clark set a new attendance record of 8,784,401 for Division I women’s basketball. This is very incredible, as it surpassed the previous record by over 150,000, and surprised many fans. The 2023-24 season has been even more fabulous as Clark broke even more records than the last season. On February 15, 2024, the University of Iowa senior broke the record for the most points in women’s NCAA history, with 3,528 points. Beating the previous record made by Kelsy Plum of 3,527.

As if it couldn’t get more impressive, Clark broke Pete Maravich’s record, which he has held ever since 1970 of 3,667 points for the most career points in Division I history of men and women. She has also said,”Just to be in the same realm of all these players who have been so successful, whether it’s Pete or Kelsey Plum or Lynette Woodard–all these people have given me so much to the game. Hopefully, somebody comes after me and breaks my records, and I can be there supporting them.”

Unfortunately, this year is going to be Caitlin Clark’s last season of college basketball, but she has decided to continue basketball by joining the WNBA. Before that, Clark wants to end this season with the Iowa Hawkeyes winning their first NCAA Championship!
