Life of a Cat

By: Eva Li

The life of a cat is peaceful, but can also be hard. This is mainly because some cats are strays so finding food is tough. When a kitten is born, the mother will lick it until it has no more blood on it anymore. When done, the mother will feed the kitten with some of her milk. After several days, the kitten’s eyes will open. About 6 and a half weeks after its birth, its eye color will start to show. Once the kitten is 2 months old, it won’t need to depend on its mother’s milk and will soon need to rely on other things, like solid food and water. But for strays, solid cat food is rather hard to find, so they will need to either hunt or scavenge for something to eat.

Sometimes, the parent(s) of the strays will abandon their kids so they don’t get attached and don’t cry when they die. Other times, the parent(s) will abuse their own kids to keep them away and make them hate its parent(s). However, when the kitten grows and turns into a cat and has its own kids, it will abuse them as well, ending up in an everlasting abuse throughout the entire family for generations. For a house kitten, the parents won’t abuse their kids or anything like that, instead they will be very overprotective of their kids. Consequently, house kittens won’t be abusing their future kids for several generations, unlike the stray cats.
