Animals

DUCKS
Through the noon and shadows of the bay
casts on the sun blazing midday
there lies, so oval and round,
four blue eggs, there they lay.
Footsteps pounding, leaves crunching
Through the bushes and clay
Hands sweaty, muzzles tightening,
Wet noses sniffing for prey.
Distant voices shout,
Hounds mess about,
Just to miss the right route
There lies, so oval and round
Four blue eggs, there they lay
Safe and sound.

HAWK
A vast, clear, blue sky.
Suddenly, a hawk swoops past.
KEE-EEEE-ARRR! Then, empty.

BLACK SWANS
Darker than ink, feathers glow
Blacker than midnight, brighter than the moon.
Floating through the water
Gliding through the lake,
Swimming in the rivers and
Diving into ponds.
One feather, two,
Sinking down
And down.
Grace.

White Beauty, grace
Floating, swimming, paddling
Feathers, spread wings, mud, beaks,
Sinking, soaring, diving,
Pure, heart
Black

CUBS
Soft, furry
Tumbling squeaking tripping
Wet fur, baby teeth, siblings, leaders
Roaring, caring, growling,
Fierce, mane
Lion
