Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris Uses Pop Trends for Votes

On July 21, 2024, mere hours after Biden’s announcement to drop out of the presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris took over everyone’s digital platforms with pop trends. Vice President Kamala Harris turns 60 years old this year. As a graduate of Howard University and University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, Harris became the first Black and Asian American vice president in the US. She revealed a new, captivating way to win American attention and votes.

On TikTok, edits of Vice President Kamala Harris with Taylor Swift’s, Beyoncé’s, and Charli XCX’s top songs are booming with 24.6 million posts. Harris hypes up not only American voters but also celebrities from various countries. Charli XCX, a British singer and songwriter known for her most recent “Brat” album wrote on X (Twitter), [K]amala IS [B]rat.” Other celebs such as Cardi B and John Legend responded on Instagram supporting Harris’ energizing connection with multiple generations through these hot trends.


Within 24 hours, Harris raised a record-breaking 81 million dollars for her campaign funds. On July 19, Before the vice president overtook President Biden’s spot in the upcoming elections,, the votes were split evenly between Biden and Trump. After news of Vice President Kamala Harris’ grand appearance, 42% of voters chose Harris while 38% chose Trump. According to The Economic Times, although former US President Donald Trump is beating his Democratic rivals, he lost to the introduction of Harris. She will earn the presidential nomination if the voting statistics persist.


Tina Knowles, the mother of Beyoncé and Solange, wrote on Instagram about Harris, “New, youthful, [sharp] energy!!!!” Sympathizing, John Legend said, “…She’s ready for this moment,” praising Vice President Kamala Harris and President Biden.
