Yankees’ Baseman Chisholm Unable to Play Due to Elbow Injury

By: Emily Ao

On Wednesday, the New York Yankees put baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. onto their injured list because of a minor left elbow strain. The athlete left the Monday game early after he injured himself while scoring a run into home plate, earning him an unwanted 10-day break from games.

Chisholm stated that while his injury was slightly sore, it wasn’t enough to be a huge concern, the New York Times reports. He seemed pretty disappointed though, because evidently, he had looked extremely excited to play.

Chisholm has been one of the best players on the team. “He’s been really impactful for us and hopefully this is something that’s a shorter period and we’ll get him back and rolling but it’s certainly tough to not have him in there with what he’s meant to our team already,” manager Boone says.

In place of Chisholm, the Yankees plan to use Oswaldo Cabrera and DJ LeMahieu, who are also really good performers. Hopefully, though, Chisholm’s injury will heal soon, as the athlete has already shown signs of a speedy recovery and determination to play once again.
