Have you ever thought about living the life of your favorite character? The new life-sized Polly Pocket dollhouse located in Littleton Massachusetts is available to spend the night in! Polly Pocket, a miniature foldable dollhouse currently owned by Mattel is celebrating its 35th anniversary on May 1st 2024. This Airbnb is a bigger and better replica of the 1994 Slumber Party Fun Compact toy from Polly Pocket.
Polly Pocket first made her appearance in stores in 1989, but it wasn’t until the 1990s when it started getting popular. All ages and decades can feel delight in playing with Polly Pocket and her friends. On the listing for Airbnb, Polly Pocket herself has even prepared a message which welcomes guests to stay in her home. According to BBC News, she enthusiastically proclaims: “Hi, friends! Sleepover at my place! You in? I’ll be off on a 35th birthday adventure, but my life-sized Slumber Party Fun compact is all yours for the night.”
Ali Killam from Airbnb told WBZ-TV “What we really are trying to do with icons is create these worlds and stays and experiences that truly immerse someone in the worlds that they’re experiencing in a way that they haven’t been able to before.” Making the dollhouse real is a way to widen the imagination and satisfy all of the Polly Pocket fans. In the toy, Polly Pocket is actually from a fictional town called Littleton. According to CBS NEWS Killiam said, “… we wanted to pick a place that had a lot of adventure for quests to explore, and [in] this Littleton, Massachusetts town, … but there’s so much adventure to be had, it’s so charming and quaint and cute.”
The unique bright pink airbnb almost looks identical to the toy. With a height of more than 12 meters tall, it has lots of life-sized furniture and a fridge that even opens. Polly’s Airbnb allows up to four fans per night to sleep under the stars in her dollhouse. Guests can feast on popular 90s snacks, and make bracelets with their best friends. They can even dress up in Polly Pocket’s clothes, which are made out of a smooth gummy material like in the toy. Additionally, guests have the option to lay down in a cozy tent outside with blankets, or relax on a pullout couch inside and watch TV.
