Letter to the Lost

By: Sarah Wang

Would you want me to sit and cry,

Near your grave each solemn night?

Lean on a shoulder, squeeze it tight,

Let tears trickle down my face.

Or would you want me to move on,

Knowing you were here all along?

Every dusk and every dawn,

In each and every place.

Are you the hundred birds that sing?

Are you the snowflakes glistening?

The nighttime stars all twinkling,

Distant out in space?

Looking at the cloudless sky,

I see no signs of human life.

So would you want me to sit and cry,

Or would that be a waste?
