August 4th, 2023, the Magnum XL-200 trapped dozens of people on a-205-feet drop, in Sandusky Ohio. Riders had to evacuate the ride at that time in Cedar Point.
The Magnum XL-200 was debuted in 1989 and it was awarded in the Guinness World Records, World Tallest Roller coaster. In later years, their coaster Top Thrill Dragster would top this record. It was 420 feet tall, but shortly after it opened, it closed for repeated issues.
Last month, a roller coaster named Fireball at a Wisconsin festival also trapped people. The roller coaster had trapped 8 people upside-down for several hours. When the rescuers came, they had to rescue them in mid-air. Scott Brass one of the rescuers, noticed there were 5 children and 3 adults. One of the children, a girl, said for the rescuers to first rescue an old man who had passed out at some point instead of her.
“That girl deserves a medal of courage for sure.” said Brass. Thankfully, none of the 8 people were hurt at the Fireball in the Wisconsin festival.
