On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the riders aboard the Magnum XL-200 got stuck moments before dropping a two hundred and five feet drop.
According to witnesses and reports, a dozen people had to excavate the ride in Sandusky, Ohio, at the Cedar Point amusement park after a mechanical failure caused the track to stop suddenly.
According to a spokesperson, the stop happened because of an engine light problem, and the ride couldn’t start immediately. Many photos got sent to social media, mostly showing passengers going down a set of stairs. None of the passengers were injured.
When the Magnum XL-200 was made, it got the Guinness World Record for the tallest roller coaster ever. Cedar Point, which says it is the capital of roller coasters, has beaten this with the 420 ft long Top Thrill Dragster, which is now closed from problems.
A video shared by Cedar Point shows the first drop.
“If it’s a clear day, you might be able to see the coast of Canada on the horizon,” Cedar Point claims on its website.
Cedar Point describes the Magnum as a brilliant engineering feat. The ride was still closed on Thursday, August 3.
