In Florida, the people there are facing constant heat waves when it is very hot. The average temperature in Fahrenheit is 115 degrees with the heat wave in session. In Houston, the temperature got up to around 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Places from Houston to New Orleans have been opening cooling centers to make the heat go lower.
How did this heat wave happen? Well, this was caused by tornados in western Texas hitting Florida. The tornado hit Florida and caused more than 1,000 families without electricity.
The tornado also killed three people on Thursday. Two women and one 11-year-old got killed.
This change in southern America caused other problems in other states such as Kansas and Louisiana. Two people were killed in Kansas.
