The Florida club that serves as the former president’s primary property, Mar-a-Lago, is “now under siege, being invaded, and occupied by a huge group of FBI agents,” Trump claimed on Monday. According to sources, the search is related to a Justice Department probe into National Archives claims that it discovered 15 boxes of data, including classified information, at Mar-a-Lago earlier this year.
According to two sources, the FBI collected boxes and papers from Mar-a-Lago, but no electronics. All or a portion of the documents could be considered potentially sensitive records. The agents took away 11 boxes of supposed “classified” information that Trump claims were already “declassified”.
A President of the United States has never experienced something like this, according to a statement from Trump. “This surprise raid on my residence was not necessary or proper.” According to a senior White House official, the West Wing was not informed in advance of the FBI search of the former president Trump’s Florida home. Trump goes on to explain when Hilary Clinton took furniture from the White House, no legal action was taken against her, but when he took documents from the White House, his house was raided.
“No advance information,” the senior source, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the topic, said, “some (in the White House) discovered from old media, some from social media.”
There are a number of ongoing investigations into the former president, though most of those would probably not call for federal involvement. These numerous investigations include a civil investigation into the Trump Organization by New York Attorney General Letitia James and a probe into whether Trump and his allies meddled in the 2020 election in Fulton County, Georgia,
“I mean, give me a break,” said Eric Trump. “To have 30 FBI agents, actually more than that, descend on Mar-a-Lago, provide absolutely no notice, go through the gate, start ransacking an office, ransacking a closet — you know, they smashed into a safe, and Dad didn’t even have anything in the safe. More political persecution of Donald J. Trump, he claimed, was the result of the raid.
