Texas Man Finally Charged for His Murders

By: Aaron Li

DNA evidence has helped crack numerous unsolved murders, including some dating back to

1980 when three women and a teenage girl in California were killed. Evidence in this case led to the arrest of a 75-year-old man in Texas.

Detectives from both Los Angeles and Inglewood have traveled to Fort Worth, Texas, to arrest

Billy Rary Richardson, whom the police linked to the murders of Kari Lenander, Beverly, Cruse,

and her sister, Debra Cruse in a 1980 case in Los Angeles. He also murdered Trina Wilson in

1995 in Inglewood. In terms of the case details, the prosecutors said, “All the victims had been

raped.”

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said Richardson was charged on Thursday with four

counts of murder and related charges. An arraignment date had not been set for his extradition to Los Angeles.

Attempts to reach surviving family members of the victims on Friday were unsuccessful.

Los Angeles district attorney, George Gascon, said in a statement that “I cannot imagine the

pain that these families have endured, their loss is immeasurable. We hope that together we

can bring justice to the families who have endured so much and have waited years for this

moment.”
