The $200 million dollar Disney film, “Lightyear”, has been banned in the Arab world, and this is a big problem for the box office.. Some Muslims believe that gays and lesbians are irreligious and many countries in the Arab world continue to arrest people of the LGBTQ community.

Chris Evans, who voiced Buzz Lightyear, says that the UAE’s decision of not letting the film to screen is disappointing. “Yeah, it’s frustrating. It feels good to be a part of something that is making social progress, but it’s with this ribbon of bittersweet frustration that at the same time, there are still places that have not caught up.” said Evans to The Associated Press at the premiere of “Lightyear” in London.

Even though in the modern era members of the LGBTQ community are much more accepted and welcomed, this shows that there still is so much to do.
