The gas from your feces, which normally does not supply much help, is now being used for power. Frank Tudor, managing director of the gas supplier Jemena says, ”using biomethane for cooking and heating would help lower Australia’s overall carbon emissions, although the reduction would be small at first.” And it isn’t only Sydney. A few facilities like this are in the US, Europe, and China. Reports say that for cities run by gas emissions, mixing in biomethane with the original gas reduced their carbon emissions deeply. A European facility says that using biogas (mixing CO2, methane, and other various gasses) will reduce carbon emissions by 85%. Mr. Tudor says, “The challenge of electrifying Australian homes was “under-appreciated.” He also says that, “There’s a lot of work to be done by households if they choose to migrate from gas to electricity. If we can offer them a choice that (they) can retain gas and it is renewable gas, we believe that there’s a multitude of benefits that come from that.”
The facility in Sydney uses biogas made from sewage and makes it into energy that Sydney uses to power their electricity. This could break through and become the new power for the whole world.
