Apple’s Vision Pro Headset mixes Virtual Worlds with the Real World

By: Nina He

Everyone knows Apple is great. But we didn’t know how great until they released their new Pro Headset! On June 5th, Apple unveiled the Pro Headset that would allow users to use their fingers, legs, and arms to play games, and so much more!

It’s like a TV screen, but it’s much smaller and can fit on your head. Using the headset, you can turn your bedroom into a lush cave with plants, or build a treehouse using whatever materials you would like to use! While most of the features seem fun, the headset can also be used to study immersive environments and communicate more effectively.

The headset looks like ski goggles and combines virtual reality with more augmented reality. Because of several cameras and microphones attached to the camera, you can record what’s in your virtual world to play on a computer screen.

During the unveiling of the Apple headset, Tim Cook, Apple’s leader, talked about it.

“Blending digital content with the real world can unlock experiences like nothing we’ve ever seen,” Cook said. “Just as the Mac introduced us to personal computing, and iPhone introduced us to mobile computing, Apple Vision Pro introduces us to spatial computing. Built upon decades of Apple innovation, Vision Pro is years ahead and unlike anything created before.”

But with all these features, the Pro Headset is costly. 3,499 Australian dollars, in fact. The cost is very hard to judge. Some people think the price is just about right because of all the features, but some people think it’s overpriced.

Other than the new headset, Apple added some other features for products having nothing to do with the headset.

First is a daylight sensor for Apple watches that tells how much you’re outside, which is vital to eye health. Second, is a screen feature that gives a warning if your face is too close to the screen for iPhones. Additionally is something called Check-In that tells friends and family if you’ve arrived at your destination. Lastly is NameDrop, which allows you to share contact information with someone just by holding your phone to theirs closely.

After the unveiling of the Apple headset, Apple buyers finally know exactly how futuristic Apple is.
