Researchers have recently found nine caves on Mars that are humans could survive in, showing that we could maybe live on Earth. Although there are still serious doubts that humans could survive, and even trying could be expensive, we must find a second planet that could be suitable to live in.

Although the public once imagined colonies happily thriving on the red planet, these hopes were quickly dashed by further study of Mars’ high temperatures and toxic atmosphere On mars at night, it can get down to -100 degrees Fahrenheit, which is too cold for a human to survive in.. Mars also has near to no water and absolutely no food for us humans to live off.

“Everything at the surface is subject to harsh radiation, possible meteorite or micrometeorite bombardment and really large day-to-night temperature swings,” said Nicole Bardabelias a geoscientist at the University of Arizona.

The recent discovery of caves under Mars’s surface could has brought the dream of people living on Mars back to life. These caves offer protection form Mars’s harsh atmosphere, and temperature. Another pro about having these caves is that astronauts do not have to be in the spaceship for their whole journey to and from Mars. Space explorers could get out and take a break for a couple weeks. Think about how annoying it could get sitting in a space shuttle for months with barely anything to do.

In the future, if these caves are habitable, we humans could use them if our planet Earth gets demolished by global warming. In around 4 billion years Earth will melt due to the extreme temperatures from greenhouse gasses. Mars could be used to support life because a burning ball of fire most likely could not.
