A gleam of a new future, a world we could restored,
Elusive yet ubiquitous, a rare goodness amongst rising stakes.
An opportunity to keep open, a lifeline to upkeep,
Yet only a sliver of a chance, no room for mistakes.
Regardless of our past, exploitation of the weak,
Corporate greed, selfish acts, a fault that now makes us meek,
To a world now grown hostile from our ravaging, now in plight,
Humanity still has a hope, a dream yet to take flight.
A world torn by our actions, ours now to restore,
Yet only a minute window of hope, let life as we know cease.
A decade to strive for, escaping our own pit which we dug,
And from our blood may there come forth a new era of peace.
