A Pet for Life

By: Adalyn Xiao

If I could choose a pet to have for my entire life, it would definitely be a dog. Dogs have been companions to humans for many years already, and I would like a dog to be mine.

I would choose a dog because they are great companions. Dogs usually form deep bonds with their owners. They are both playful and affectionate. Dogs will encourage physical activity. When I don’t go outside often, my dog, Bella, a golden retriever, will try to encourage me to go outside to play with it.

You can play fetch with them, go for a walk at the park, and many other things. On the downside, dogs are really active animals and can sometimes be hard to take care of, for example dogs need to be walked often, or they will become bored.

Dogs are often used as therapy animals because of their ability to provide comfort and emotional support. They can sense when their owners are feeling down and can be a source of comfort during difficult times.

You can also teach your dog and train it. Training a dog needs communication and understanding between you and your dog. Dogs are intelligent animals and can learn a variety of commands and tricks, which can be fun to teach and practice together.

If I had a dog for life, we could go for walks, we could play fetch and hide and seek together, and relax together. I would enjoy teaching my dog to do tricks and obey commands. Having a dog is a lot of fun, but it requires a lot of effort like making it happy, and buying it food.
