Facing intense public pressure from the citizens of Florida, its governor finally agreed to start importing vaccines and giving them to the doctors in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This all begun when the White House granted states the authority to preorder vaccines for children under the age of 5 years old before the F.D.A gave full authorization of their safety in response to the spreading pandemic. Florida, however, refused, passed many deadlines, and didn’t preorder the vaccines like the other 49 states.
Ron DeSentis, the Governor of Florida, said that “These [very young children] have no risk of getting anything anyways” and refused to preorder before the shots got FDA authorization.
Because of the way US medical systems work, children receive vaccines at physician’s offices, and the doctor themselves can’t order shots on their own. The vaccines must go through the state, and this is how Florida and DeSentis has managed to stop the vaccines from influencing their children.
