Army suspends three-star general because of a Twitter post mocking Jill Biden

The US Army has suspended the retired former head of communication, Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky, because of a tweet mocking the first lady of the US, Jill Biden, about the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which bans abortion in the US.

After Jill Biden posted a tweet that lamented the decision of the Supreme Court impacting females, Volesky responded with a deleted tweet saying, “Glad to see you finally know what a woman is.”

Soon the Army spokesperson Cynthia Smith told The Washington Post that Volesky had been suspended from his contract as a senior mentor by Lt. Gen. Theodore Martin, commanding general of the Combined Arms Center, “pending the outcome of the commander’s inquiry.”

Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky is a decorated, retired three-star general who served in the Gulf War and the war in Afghanistan, for which he received the Silver Star for his contributions in Iraq. He was also the commander of the 101st Airborne Division.

In previous years, Volesky has been vocal about his political beliefs. In response to the January 56th Capital attack, he responded to a tweet by Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Who.

Cheney tweeted, “I’m honored to serve on the January 6th select committee. Our oath to the Constitution must be above partisan politics,” Cheney tweeted.

Volesky tweeted in response, “This is all about partisan politics.”
