At Night

By: Rhea Agrawal

Though some are in dismay,

That it’s the end of day,

The world seems to lend itself to sleep,

Small creatures let out a tiny cheep.

The dark brings dangerous predators,

Who also are great competitors.

Little fireflies roaming around,

Flashes of light without any sound.

The chirp of many crickets can be heard,

Not to be confused with those of a bird.

As the gloominess of night sets in,

Many think about what could have been.

Eager to sleep and get some rest,

To be able to do their best.

The world above seems calm and collected,

But in the shadows lie the protected.
