Biden drops out of Race

By: Catherine Wang

On Sunday, June 21st, President Biden unexpectedly ended his campaign. After a long career spanning five decades, Biden faced growing concerns about his age and his chances against Trump. He chose to hand over his campaign to Vice President Kamala Harris, as his party prepares for a historic change.

Now 81, Biden couldn’t ignore the growing belief within his party that he was too old to serve and likely to lose to Donald Trump in November. He endorsed Kamala Harris to take his place as the Democratic nominee. (NBC News)

It wasn’t just that Biden was tired of losing support from his own party — although he was. It was that Biden finally agreed with many Democrats who had lost faith in him after his poor debate performance last month: he couldn’t win against Trump.

With Biden promising to return to the campaign trail next week, some people in his party thought that stronger public pressure might be needed to convince him to step down.

At least half a dozen House and Senate Democrats, including senior members, were ready to call for Biden to leave on Monday or Tuesday, according to a lawmaker with a pre-drafted statement. (Politico News)

Two doctors shared their views on Biden’s cognitive health. “President Biden has shown signs of cognitive decline for a while,” said Dr. Brett Osborn, a Florida neurosurgeon specializing in cognitive function.

Considering his “declining cognitive state, President Biden’s decision to step down seems wise,” Osborn stated, sharing his professional opinion. (Fox News)
