President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential election on July 21st, paving the way for people of younger generations to be President, and endorsed his vice president Kamala Harris. He’s counting on Harris to attempt to stop Donald Trump from becoming president again.
Biden posted a letter on his social media at 1:46 pm, claiming, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
According to the New York Times, Kamala Harris said, “I am honored to have the president’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination,” she said. She added: “I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.” Biden gives all his hopes to Harris, and Harris does not hope to disappoint him, as he praises Biden for his “selfless and patriotic act.”
Biden’s decision was unexpected to the people of the Democratic Party, and he made the race way more complicated by only giving Harris about 107 days to gain voter’s trust to prevent Trump from returning to the White House. Biden’s decision is a true act of leadership according to his family, as he paved the way for people from a younger generation to rule the Democratic Party, such as Kamala Harris, who is 59.
According to the Hill Home News, Naomi Biden, Biden’s granddaughter, claimed that she was proud of Biden’s choice to drop out and give the opportunity of president to someone from relatively a younger generation.
