It’s July 21, 2024, and Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, has dropped out of this year’s race, heeding the extreme pressure from various Democrats. He stays in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he makes this shocking announcement to his nation.
Following Biden’s decision, he quickly endorsed Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States. Biden said, “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.” Biden supported Kamala and told Democrats to come together and win the race.
Biden is also the first President in US history to drop out this late in the process, as less than four months remain until the election. Other than Biden, only a few other Presidents have dropped out of the race after their first term. Biden said, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.” Though Biden may wish to seek re-election, he still believes that it is best to leave the work for Kamala Harris.
Kamala Harris has only weeks to earn the backing of almost 4,000 delegates. But already, many Democrats have begun to support her. They include Former President Bill Clinton, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
