Biden’s debate against Trump on Thursday night proved exactly what Trump and his followers wanted. At the age of 81, Biden is the oldest ever U.S. president. In the debate, the earliest in America’s history, Biden tried to reinforce that he wasn’t too old to hold the presidential position, but it seemed like Trump was getting the better of him.
Many of Biden’s followers became concerned about Biden’s fitness and age impacting his decisions as it became frighteningly clear as he seemed to struggle during points in the argument. The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporations) claimed that Trump appeared confident during the debate, and was positive about his victory.
In the argument, Trump accused Biden of ruining America’s economy, and that it was better under his presidency. Biden counterattacked by focusing on Trump’s criminal convictions. In the debate, Biden’s voice became raspy and unclear. Later, his campaign tried to explain the issues away by saying the president had a cold, however, many remain unconvinced.
Trump was the previous president before Biden, and elected against Hilary Clinton. Biden ran against Trump when he became president, and was previously Obama’s vice president. Biden’s vice president right now is Kamala Harris.
Biden specifically held the argument early so that the Americans would be reminded of Trump’s presidency. The main reason for this would be so the minds would shift to Trump early in the campaign. Karma struck as Thursday’s argument had a completely different effect, as minds shifted towards Biden. BBC’s North American reporter Sarah Smith claimed that”Joe Biden had one job – to persuade Americans he wasn’t too old. He failed that test.”
Now, expectations shifted to Trump to win the election, but Biden could prove everyone and the reporters wrong. All of these expectations lie on the shoulders of the next debate.
