BIDEN PULLS OUT FROM REELECTION

By: Victoria You

On the day of July 21, 2024, President Joe Biden announced to the world that he is no longer seeking reelection. As Biden stated himself, he dropped out of the election for the best interest of his party and country. His words were, “While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.” Biden then thanked Kamala Harris ( his Vice President) for being an “extraordinary partner.” Then, Democrats donated money to Kamala Harris for election. The last President to pull out of reelection was Lyndon Johnson in 1968.

With Democrats donating, Trump has decided to donate to her twice, but she did not keep the money.

“All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t,” Trump said. Trump also boasted to CNN that he “believes that VP Harris will be easier to beat than Joe Biden would have been,” according to a post on X by the network’s Brian Stelter.
Harris expressed, “I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.” Harris also thanked Biden for his “remarkable legacy of achievement.”

Biden’s dropout could set off a free-for-all for the Democratic nomination for President, although Harris has been considered the best choice to replace him as the candidate. This decision may add to our 2024 expectations!
