Biden Receives the New Covid-19 Vaccine

By Julia Xiao

President-elect Joe Biden has received the first dose of the newly released Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine on December 21.

While getting his shot, Biden cheerfully thanked the nurse that was attending to him for her hard work with the Covid-19 patients. He had also said that he was “looking forward” to getting his second dose.

Biden said that, “I’m doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared, when it’s available, to take the vaccine.” In other words he is setting an example for the citizens to take the vaccine.

Biden has said that the Trump administration “deserves credit” for the initial development and distribution of the vaccine. He has a set goal to distribute 100 million vaccine shots in the first 100 days of his administration.

At the age of 78, Biden is at a higher risk of severe symptoms if he were to be infected by the virus.

The percentage of people who would choose to be vaccinated has increased over the past few months. The number of Republicans who said that they would choose not to get vaccinated is more than the number of Democrats who also said no. Overall more people want to get a vaccination.

The White House had not said when Trump or his wife, both who had been infected with the virus earlier this year, would receive the vaccine.
