On Sunday June 15th, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in Kyiv. As Boris Johnson was visiting Kyiv, he spoke with President Zelensky about starting a new military to help and support Ukraine’s already fighting army. President Zelensky referred to Mr. Johnson as his country’s “great friend”. This visit was in fact Johnson’s second since Russia invaded Ukraine earlier this year.
Mr. Johnson publicly announced his visit to Kyiv on social media saying, “Mr. President, Volodymyr. It is good to be in Kyiv again.” Then president Zelensky replied, “Glad to see our country’s great friend Boris Johnson in Kyiv again.”
While speaking at a press conference with Mr. Zelensky, Boris talked about a UK program for training to give to the Ukrainian soldiers, saying that it would give, “that most powerful of forces, the Ukrainian determination to win.”Led by the UK, this training plan would have the ability to train up 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers in just 120 days and allow Ukraine to, “Accelerate their deployment, rebuild their forces and scale up resistance,” says Downing Street.
They also say that the soldiers would be able to learn, “battle-winning skills for the front line, as well as basic medical training, cyber – security, and counter explosive tactics.”
For now, we shall wait and see what is going to happen next with the war of Russia vs Ukraine.
