British Diver Tom Daley Retires from Diving

The 2024 Paris Games officially ended on Aug 11, 2024. After Olympic diver Tom Daley won his fifth Olympic medal in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, he announced that he would be retiring from professional diving. The 30-year-old Olympian qualified for his very first Olympic Games when he was just 14 in 2008, and he has competed in all of the Olympic Games since then. Daley went on to win his first Olympic gold in Tokyo in 2021.

Tom Daley, who is currently team Great Britain’s popular diver, revealed his decision to withdraw from professional diving. “I felt so incredibly nervous going into this, knowing it was my last Olympics.” he said, according to Newsround. Tom Daley has had an incredible career spanning more than 15 years.

Tom Daley has won many titles across European competitions making him a 5-time European champion. He has also gotten titles in World competitions. The British diver has gotten a bronze medal from the London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020 Games, in addition to the gold medal the he won in the 10-meter synchronized diving event in Tokyo with Matty Lee, and his most recent medal from the Paris 2024.

Daley has also inspired many people to try out knitting or crocheting after posting his impressive creations on social media, including a Paris Olympic games themed sweater. He has enjoyed this hobby, and knitted clothes for his children. He even started his own knitted clothing company, called Made in Love by Tom Daley.
