Caitlin Clark Makes Basketball History

By: Theodore Tong

Caitlin Clark, a standout player for the Iowa Hawkeyes, has made history in women’s college basketball. At just 22 years old, Caitlin has shattered records and captured the hearts of basketball fans everywhere.

In the 2023-24 season, Caitlin achieved something incredible. On February 15, 2024, during a game against Michigan, she scored her 3,528th point, breaking the record for the most points ever scored by a woman in NCAA history. That’s more points than anyone else has ever scored in all the years of college women’s basketball.

But Caitlin didn’t stop there. Just a couple of weeks later, on February 28, 2024, she surpassed another record held for over 40 years by Lynette Woodard, reaching 3,649 points. That’s like scoring a basket almost every time you play for years and years!

Even more amazingly, on March 3, 2024, Caitlin broke the all-time scoring record for NCAA Division 1 basketball, which includes both men and women. She beat the record set by Pete Maravich back in 1970. Pete was a famous player, and now Caitlin has more points than anyone else in the history of college basketball.

Caitlin isn’t just about scoring points. She’s also really good at making three-point shots. In fact, she set a record for the most three-pointers in a season by anyone in Division 1 basketball, man or woman.

Her skills don’t stop there. Caitlin has also made over 1,000 assists and grabbed more than 800 rebounds during her college career. That means she’s not only a top scorer but also helps her teammates score and gets the ball back for her team.

Now, Caitlin has her eyes set on a new goal: winning the NCAA championship with the Iowa Hawkeyes. She’s been a huge inspiration to fans and players alike, showing that hard work and talent can lead to incredible achievements in sports.

After this season, Caitlin plans to join the WNBA, where she’s expected to be the number one pick in the draft. Everyone is excited to see what she’ll do next on the basketball court. With Caitlin Clark, the future of women’s basketball looks brighter than ever.
